Our school visit service offers a collaborative and child-centered approach to supporting students' access to the curriculum and school environment. Conducted by a Senior Occupational Therapist and Speech and Language Therapist, the visit provides tailored recommendations to enhance the student’s learning experience and school participation.

What’s Involved

1. Travel Time

   • For local schools (within 30 minutes of Ballinakill SC), driving time is included in the fee.

   • For non-local schools, travel fees will be discussed and agreed upon based on distance and time.

2. In-School Observations

   • Direct observation of the student in their learning environment to identify challenges and strengths.

   • Review of the classroom setup, sensory environments, and interaction dynamics.

3. Assessment

   • Speech and language assessment to evaluate communication skills.

   • Occupational therapy assessment to review motor, sensory, and functional skills.

   • Standardized tools and informal assessments tailored to the child’s needs.

4. Interviews with Teaching Staff

   • One-on-one or group discussions with teachers and special education staff to gather insights on the student’s performance, needs, and areas of concern.

5. Staff Training

   • A short training session for teachers and staff, focusing on practical strategies for supporting the student.

   • Topics may include communication techniques, sensory-friendly classroom adaptations, and behavior management.

6. Advice and Troubleshooting

   • Recommendations for interventions, equipment, or teaching strategies tailored to the student’s needs.

   • Troubleshooting specific challenges faced by staff in supporting the student.

Fees

• Local Visits: €900 per visit.

• Non-Local Visits: €900 + travel expenses (mileage and time).
